Downoad Volunteer Hot Sheet (PDF)
ECS is pleased to announce the following projects for individuals and groups.*
Make a difference in the lives of ECS families!
Adopt a FAST Family: Chronically homeless families are joining ECS FAST Housing this spring. They will be moving into their first permanent homes, so many have nothing more than what they carried into shelter. All household items are needed, especially new or gently used bed and bath linens, kitchen supplies and household furnishings. Or would your parish or group be willing to “ADOPT a FAST Family” to provide this needed assistance?
Host a “Housewarming” Party and invite your guest to fill the following varieties of housewarming baskets:
- Square plastic laundry basket with new or gently used bed &bath linens to include a set of towels for 4 family members, bath mat/rug, 1 queen set sheets, 2 twin sets (boy and girl), laundry detergent, dryer sheets
- Large plastic-lidded tub with needed household items; the tub when emptied will provide needed storage space in the household. Include flatware for 8, set of dishes for 8, glassware for 4 and plastic tumblers for 4, cooking pots and pans, kitchen utensils such as spatulas and mixing spoons, measuring spoons & cups, spatulas, and dishtowels.
- One-gallon cleaning bucket with household cleansers, such as Comet, Mr. Clean, Fantastic, Windex, household disinfectant, & a dustpan w/ brush, cleaning cloths, sponges, roll of paper towels, and broom and mop.
Diaper Dilemma: : ECS St. Barnabas Mission or homeless women and their children has a “toddler boom” and is in need of disposable diapers, especially sizes 3, 4 and 5. Have a “Diaper Drive” this spring at your parish to gather these perennially needed items.
Fill the Bus: School Supplies Collection—Buy a book bag for either an elementary school or upper school student and fill with school supplies to include lined notebook paper, pens, markers, crayons, rulers, protractors, erasers, pencil boxes, etc. and deliver to ECS by August 15th.
Food for Thought: The cost of groceries is rising and having greater impact on our families’ budgets; would you consider providing budget stretching assistance? Host a parish pot luck and collect “grocery bucks” from your guests! This monetary donation would then be sent to ECS to provide food budget assistance to our families.
