Volunteer Opportunities

Adult Literacy

Urban Bridges provides a variety of educational services to adults who are seeking a brighter future. You can help by tutoring adults, assessing their level of accomplishment or helping new immigrants learn English.

Homeless Shelter

St. Barnabas Mission is a comprehensive homeless shelter for women and children located in West Philadelphia. The shelter has interactive opportunities working with children and on-going maintenance needs. Please consider donating your time to help make a difficult time for those at the shelter feel more at home.

Group Projects

ECS can facilitate a one-time volunteer experience for your class or organization at one of our social service sites.

After-School Tutoring

There are many opportunities to work with pre-school and elementary age children in Philadelphia who need additional help with reading, writing and math. Perhaps you feel the desire to give back and help those who need a little extra encouragement and support. Let ECS help you connect with children who need your time and talent.

Office Help and Internships

ECS is one of the largest and most successful non-profits in Philadelphia. There are opportunities for volunteers to do light office work in our human resources department and for college or graduate students studying or interested in working in a non-profit social service environment to intern in administration at our main office.

In-Kind Support and Projects

The people we serve have a variety of needs as they move toward independence including household supplies, clothing and supplies for infants. Please let us know if you have a service project in mind that matches a need for the people we serve. Click here for some ideas.
