Certification Helps an ECS Director Develop New Programming

E-mail Print

bea124ECS director of program innovation and professional development Beatrice Fulton, LCSW, recently obtained her certification in cognitive behavioral therapy from the Academy of Cognitive Therapy
(ACT), a non-profit association of certified cognitive therapists committed to improving mental health outcomes through cognitive therapy.

"Including cognitive behavioral skills into the work we already do with our family members reinforces the connection that their thoughts impact their behaviors," Fulton said.

So far, cognitive behavioral skills have been used in the  ECS Teens Takin' Over workshop series that Fulton oversees as well as at ECS St. Barnabas Mission. This year, Fulton is expanding the use of cognitive skills to the ECS parenting workshops in an effort to help parents better pursue educational goals for themselves and their children.
