Miriam P. Kepner - President-Elect
Ms. Kepner has served on the Board since 2001. She is an active member of St. Thomas' Church, Whitemarsh where she is a past Vestry member and currently coordinates the St. Thomas/ECS partnership and outreach program.Â
Gordon L. Keen, Jr. - Vice President
Mr. Keen joined the board in 2005. He is retired from Radnor-based Airgas, Inc. where he served as the senior vice president of law and corporate development. In addition to his service on the ECS board, he serves on the boards for the Independence Seaport Museum and Buck Foundation. He is a member of Church of the Redeemer, Bryn Mawr.
Raymond H. Welsh - Vice President
Ray Welsh returned to the ECS board in 2003 after serving as board president from 1995 to 2001. He is senior vice president with UBS and a parishioner at St. Christopher’s, Gladwyne. He is also active with the United Way of S.E. Pennsylvania, Bancroft Neurohealth, Cradle of Liberty Council for the Boy Scouts of America and the Salvation Army.
Adrienne Yost Hart - Treasurer
Adrienne Hart joined the Board in the 2009 fiscal year and became Assistant Treasurer in fiscal year 2010. She is an attorney. Ms. Hart is a parishioner at Trinity Memorial Church, Philadelphia.
John Pickering - Assistant Treasurer
John Pickering is a Principal of Cooke and Bieler, a Philadelphia-based investment firm. He is a graduate of Harvard University where he studied Economics and English, and captained the lightweight crew. He joined the ECS Board for the 2010 fiscal year and  also serves on the Board of The Church Farm School and as Treasurer of The Philadelphia Club. Pickering and his wife, Emily, are parishioners of Church of the Redeemer, Bryn Mawr.
Gail H. Trimble - Secretary
Ms. Trimble joined the ECS Board in 2002. She was on staff at ECS as director of development from 1994 to 2002 and worked for over 20 years as a not-for-profit fundraising professional. She is now a real estate agent for Plumer & Associates Inc. She also serves on the board of The Children’s Aid Society and is an active member at St. Peter’s, Philadelphia.
Richard A. Ashley, CPA
Appointed to the ECS Board in 2002, Mr. Ashley is a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Center City. He is Chair of the Audit Committee. He is an active member of St. Christopher’s Church in Gladwyne and a board member of the Episcopal Church Foundation.
Nolan N. Atkinson, Jr., Esq.
Mr. Atkinson is a partner with the firm of Duane Morris LLP, specializing in commercial and personal injury matters. In 2004, Philadelphia Magazine named him one of the top civil defense lawyers in the city. He currently chairs the Philadelphia Diversity Law Group, Inc. A former accounting warden at St. Luke’s Church, Germantown, he now attends Trinity Ambler.
The Rev. C. Reed Brinkman
Rev. Brinkman sas been a priest in the diocese for the past thirty years, and presently serves as interim rector of St. Philip's in-the-fields, Oreland. He holds degrees from the Episcopal Divinity School and The School of Theology of the University of the South. He is a member of the Diocesan Finance and Property Committee and the Diocesan Consultation Team.
The Rev. Clifford Cutler
The Rev. Edward Clifford Cutler became rector of St. Paul’s, Chestnut Hill on February 1, 2006. A Philadelphia native, Cutler attended Episcopal Divinity School. He has also served the Memorial Church of St. George in Ardmore, St. Luke’s Church in Kensington and St. Stephen’s in Cohasset, MA. He previously served the ECS Board in the 1970s and joined again in 2008.
Darryl J. Ford, Ph.D.
Dr. Ford joined the board in 2001. He is Headmaster of William Penn Charter School. He is an active member of St. George St. Barnabas Episcopal Church where he serves as Assistant Minister of Music. He also serves as Assistant Clerk of the Friends Council on Education and on the boards of Steppingstone and Children's Literacy Initiative.
The Rev. Sunny Hallanan
The Rev. Hallanan serves as rector of St. James Church Perkiomen in Collegeville. She has been instrumental in converting the former rectory into an outreach house providing food and clothing for those in need in the area in cooperation with the Seaman's Institute, Laurel House, Bethesda overnight shelter program and the St. Mary’s soup kitchen.
The Rev. Alison P. Harrity
The Rev. Alison P. Harrity joined the Board in the 2009 fiscal year. She is  Associate Rector for Youth and Outreach at St. David’s, Radnor. She  graduated from Church Divinity School of the Pacific in Berkeley, CA in May, 2000, and was ordained priest in December, 2000. A native of South Florida, she met her husband Mark Harrity while she was serving as Youth Minister at St. David's.
James Kelch
Professor Kelch rejoined the ECS Board of Trustees in June 2004 having served a ten-year term ending June 2003. Kelch is a Professor Emeritus of Temple University’s School of Social Work and an active member of Church of St. Andrew and St. Monica, West Philadelphia. In 1999, Mr. Kelch established the Beverly Gail Barnes-Kelch Exemplary Citizen Award to honor his late wife and to recognize an ECS staff person for extraordinary service.
David Langfitt
David Langfitt is a partner in the law firm Montgomery McCracken. He is the former Chair of the Philadelphia Mural Arts Program and remains a member of the Executive Committee. He is vice president of Ralston Center and also serves on the Board of Directors of the Lankenau Institute for Medical Research. Mr. Langfitt and his wife, Margaret, are members of St. Christopher’s, Gladwyne.
The Rev. Keith A. Marsh
The Rev. Keith Marsh became rector of the Church of the Messiah in 2005 after serving as dean of Christ Church Cathedral in Louisville, Ky. He served as a supply officer in the United States Navy for eight years prior to attending the Virginia Theological Seminary. Marsh and his wife are the parents of two children.
The Rt. Rev. Rodney R. Michel
The Rt. Rev. Rodney R. Michel serves as assisting bishop in the Diocese of Pennsylvania. He served for 10 years as suffragan bishop in the Diocese of Long Island until retiring in 2007. A graduate of Seabury-Western Theological Seminary, Bishop Michel served parishes in the dioceses of Nebraska, North Dakota and Long Island.
Richard G. Schneider, Esq.
Mr. Schneider, appointed to the ECS board in 2003, formerly served on the board of Urban Bridges. He is a retired partner of Dechert, LLP and is an active parishioner at St. Christopher’s, Gladwyne.
The Very Rev. Robert C. Smith
The Very Rev. Robert C. Smith is rector of the Memorial Church of the Good Shepherd in East Falls and dean of the Wissahickon Deanery. He was called to the priesthood after careers as a college teacher of literature and as a managing editor at the Columbia Journalism Review and TV Guide, and as a writer for The New Yorker and other magazines. Before ordination he was a Vestry member, treasurer, and parish administrator at the Church of the Advocate.
Rush B. Smith
A strategic planning consultant in plastics and consultant in Giving Services for The Episcopal Church Foundation, Mr. Smith lives in and is a long time member of St. Martin-in-the-Fields, Chestnut Hill, where he has served as a vestry member, accounting warden and rector’s warden. A graduate of the Wharton School, Mr. Smith is president of the DKE Fraternity alumni association. He joined the board in 2005.
The Very Rev. Judith Sullivan
The Very Rev. Judith Sullivan is Dean of the Philadelphia Cathedral. Ordained in 2004, she is a graduate of Wellesley College and of the General Seminary in New York City. Prior to her ordination, she directed organizations serving children in Philadelphia public schools, including the Sponsor-A-Scholar program, which she replicated in 16 cities. She lives in Chestnut Hill with husband Gil Rosenthal, an architect. They have two adult daughters.
L. Frederick Sutherland
L. Frederick Sutherland is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of ARAMARK Corporation. He joined the ECS Board in the 2009 fiscal year. He is also President of the Board of Trustees of People’s Light and Theater and a board member of WHYY. He is a parishioner of St. David’s, Radnor.
Elizabeth L. Useem, Ed.D.
Dr. Useem is a senior research consultant to Research for Action (RFA), a non-profit education research organization in Philadelphia. She is on the Board of the Pennsylvania Education Policy Leadership Center. From 1993-2004 she was Director of Research at the Philadelphia Education Fund. Dr. Useem is on the Vestry of St. Mary's Church in Ardmore.
Sharon Webster, MSW, LSW
Sharon Webster joined the Board in the 2009 fiscal year. She is Executive Director of North City Congress, which serves older adults in North Philadelphia and is a parishioner of Church of St. Andrew and St. Monica, West Philadelphia where she serves as senior warden.
